Last summer Katie had reached out to us about doing a portrait session for her, her husband, Chris, and their then three-and-a-half year old daughter, Emme. It was going to be their first time visiting Cape Cod from their home in Maryland.

Unfortunately, she called during a crazy busy time and we had to decline, which is always hard to do…particularly when the person inquiring is ridiculously sweet and totally excited about our work.

Happily, Katie and crew had such a blast during their first visit to the Cape they decided to come back again this summer. This time, she contacted us in February…smart gal! So, we were able to get a family session on the calendar nice and early.

Meeting Katie, Chris & Emme was like getting together with old friends. We hit it off right from the start. And, I’m quite pleased to say Emme & I became particularly tight. Not having any children of our own, doing these family sessions has really become a labor of love for me. It’s my fun kid time….time to run and play, laugh and if I’m lucky, as was the case with Emme, even doing some hand-holding and hugging. Swwwooooon!

We met this sweet family in Sandwich and headed to the beach for the most amazing August sunset, where the colors & light were perfection. Here are a few of our favorite moments from our time together:

Emme was having so much fun on her Daddy’s back, and being a bit of a Daddy’s girl myself, this next one just melts my heart…

I took my new bestie aside for a couple of minutes for some one on one fun. Little girls playing with their dresses as they giggle…is there anything cuter? I think not!

All that giggling is exhausting…time for an apple break. Be still my heart!

Katie…thank you so much for your persistence in seeking us out and for sharing your wonderful family and your vacation time with us. We had so much fun with you three and loved playing with Emme…sorry if we hogged her a little….she’s just too darned irresistible.
