Jenn, Pete & Peanuts ~ Harwich Family Photographers, Cape Cod

We’ve been loving all of our reunions this summer with our former Bello brides & grooms turned new parents. It’s so special knowing that we were there for the milestone of marriage and now we’re getting invited back to the next happy chapter ~ children.

It really is the biggest compliment we can receive as photographers and it affirms what we’ve always believed about bello…that ours isn’t just a job where we show up take some pretty pictures and that’s it, job over. For us, it’s all about building trust and forging lasting relationships.

This is important not just because it’s great when folks come back for more photos, but because when our couples & families trust us and feel connected to us, their guard comes down. They believe in what we do and they’re invested in the process. And, that ALWAYS leads to better, more personal, intimate photographs that tell their unique story.

As if further reaffirming this, I stumbled across an article last night on NPR’s facebook page about photographer Alicia Vera and a rather personal photo project she recently completed. The project was an intimate look at a taboo subject. In the article, Alicia talked about how while studying photojournalism in grad school, one of the most important lessons she learned was that you can’t make good pictures without understanding the story.

“And, you can’t understand the story without getting to know the people you are photographing.  You have to build relationships – and trust,” the article read.

I heard myself saying aloud, “Yup!” Even though I never studied photojournalism in college, the importance of trust between subject & photographer was something I quickly understood was essential. Over the years, it’s something Andy & I have worked hard to build with our couples & families. And, we like to think the payoff is not only photos that people respond to, but we get to keep telling the ongoing stories of some pretty amazing people, like Jenn and Pete.

We first photographed Jenn & Pete 6 years ago, for their Wequassett Wedding, then again in 2010 when we got to photograph their baby girl, Julianna. And, when we found out that their family had expanded by another member, and they wanted to share that with us, we were super excited. We headed out to Harwich, to Jenn’s parents’ home and spent a couple of hours playing & documenting.

It was a stinkin’ hot day, one where Mother Nature couldn’t decide what she wanted to do, except make all of us sweat like crazy. One minute it was raining. The next it was bright & sunny. But, we all just went along with it, moving in & out and having fun watching Julianna & her baby brother, Braedon, play. Here are a few of our favorite moments from our time together:

Sweet Julianna and her doggy pal, Winston, who has a funny habit of carrying his bowl around with him when he feels not enough attention is being paid to him. Too funny…and super cute!

Julianna’s baby brother, Braedon, is as cute as they come. Gotta love the tiptoe reach for the door…allllmost little buddy.

Watching the rain outside…and more delicious tiptoes.

A break in the rain and some time for a little walk on the beach…

Children are our very visual reminder that life goes by fast and it’s always good to take a moment to stop & smell the roses…or in this case, lilies.

Braedon got a kick out of touching the flowers….aaaahhh, life’s simple pleasures.

Julianna & her buddy….

spin me more mommy….

Our happy family…love these guys.

Hey blue eyes….

Time for an animal cracker break…can we talk about the pursed lips for a second? precious!

As is this cheeky expression….could be my favorite from the day.

Julianna isn’t quite big enough to support her baby brother, who weighs almost as much as she does. She tried to hold him, but it didn’t quite work out. Still, the attempt and even collapse, delighted both of them….and us.

Kisses….

The whole gang….

As we were leaving, Julianna & Braedon went outside for a little play time in their fountain. Again…it’s the simple pleasures that are often the best!

Jenn & Pete thank you both so much for inviting us back again to document you and your beautiful family. Thank you too for being so patient with the weather. Your babies are beautiful and so much fun to play with! We look forward to the next time we get to see you all again! Until then, we hope these photos serve as happy reminders of this time in your lives and summers spent in Harwich! Big love & hugs, Christine & Andy xoxo

Ronnie, Frank & Family ~ Truro Portrait Photographers

If you follow this blog, you’ll likely remember Ronnie & Frank and their beautiful girls, Kim & Lauren and their hubbies and kiddos, although we have a couple of new additions this year, who you’ll meet in a minute!

We adore this family and consider them very special members of our bello family. They are warm & wonderful and full of LOVE and goodness and we just love spending time with them.

We first met Ronnie & Frank seven years ago and much has changed for their family in that time. Both of their girls have married and started families of their own. With everyone scattered in different parts of the country, it’s not often they all get together, so when they do it means a lot. And, to commemorate the occasion, Ronnie & Frank have invited us to their home in Truro the past two years to photograph their gang of merry-makers and document all of the love they share.

We last got together a few weeks ago on one of those sweltering July days. We had a blast photographing them in their yard and at the Truro Lighthouse. After the session, we put down our cameras and broke bread, sharing a delicious dinner Ronnie had prepared and talking for hours. Sometimes I wonder how we can call what we do work. Truly!

Here are a few of our favorite moments from our time together:

Love this family!

T.L., Lauren and li’l Lincoln. Such a sweet family and can we talk about this father & son moment? LOOOVE!

I’ve never known cooler parents than these two. Mark and Kim make having three kids look easy. And, their sweet little lovebugs, Wake, Hadley & baby sister Piper are too sweet and so much fun to photograph!

It was a super hot & sunny day, but these guys didn’t sweat it. I just love this next photo. Hadley & PK are not looking at the camera and Wake is trying to smile his snaggletooth grin, but it’s not quite working out. But, this is what family is all about right…it’s perfect in its imperfections!

Down to the beach to cool off and play for a bit…

Ronnie & Frank with all of their sweet grand babies! Life is good when you’re surrounded by so much love!

A kiss for momma and precious PK with her sweaty brow melt my heart!

Mark & Wake check out some stuff in the garden…

Much to her delight, Wake gives his big sister a daisy he picked from the garden. Can we talk about how chuffed he looks with himself for his good deed? Honestly….too darned cute!

Sweet Lauren, T.L. and their munchable little guy, Lincoln.

Lincoln looks pretty content to be playing on a blanket with his cousins, and cheeky as heck as his mom & dad share a smooch. Love it!

I asked Lauren & T.L. to lie on the grass for a less formal family portrait, but Lincoln was confused and I think he was grabbing his momma’s hair in an effort to try and sit up. But, I love all of their expressions and again…sometimes perfection can be found in the imperfect.

Momma kisses….not much beats those.

I just love this beautiful moment captured by Andy. Mark & Kim were playing with their kids and Ronnie is watching all of the action unfold with such pride, love & gratitude written all over her beautiful face. It is these moments that make life so sweet.

Hey sugarplum….seriously, can we talk about the eyes and delicious cheeks on this little sweaty monkey? Mmmmm good!

Playing chase, Wake thinks he’s hiding, but we can see you little man. Like her baby sister, Hadley has the most gorgeous blue eyes. I could get lost in the depths of these eyes.

Smooches & cuddles with his grandma….

Guys, thank you all so much for sharing your time together and for being so much fun to be around and, of course, to photograph. Thank you too for the delicious dinner! It was so fun to get to just hang out for a while and catch up! We love you and hope these photos serve as happy reminders of this changing time in your family’s life. Can’t wait to see who might join us next year! (no pressure, just sayin’) Big love & hugs, Christine & Andy xoxo

Lindsey & Bobby’s Wequassett Wedding, Cape Cod photographers

Thankfully the rain for Lindsey & Bobby’s rehearsal dinner cleared, and their wedding day was a quintessential June day here on beautiful Cape Cod. The sun was out, the air warm & dry. It was perfection, made even more so by all of the love & joyful celebration surrounding these two New York cuties.

We first met Lindsey & Bobby in the spring of last year and then got to hang out with them some more at their Mashpee love session this past November, when they were home visiting family over Thanksgiving. It was brrrrr cold, but we had such fun and the love they displayed had us chomping at the bit for their wedding day. Click HERE for a sneak peek at their Willowbend love session.

Their Wequassett wedding did not disappoint. And, here’s a look at some of our favorite moments from their love-filled day:

Lindsey’s gorgeous gown & shoes…

Cufflnks & shirt buttons for Bobby & his groomsmen…

Lindsey & Bobby’s Blingtastic rings and invite by William Arthur.

lindsey gets buttoned into her stunning Venus wedding gown by her super sweet mom, Cindy, & sister, Kirby. The handkerchief is one of her grandfathers, who sadly, passed away last year. Lindsey tied the handkerchief around her bouquet…such a sweet touch.

Bobby & his groomsmen tie their dicky bows. Love the suspenders, or braces as they say in England.

Kirby helps Lindsey put on her ring after I snapped a few photos of it.

Tying bow ties is not easy, but the guys sure do look good trying…

Lindsey & Bobby opted to see each other before their ceremony, so we could do a lot of the family photos and get them out of the way so they could enjoy their cocktail hour. Just love the anticipation on Bobby’s face as Lindsey makes her way to him for their first look.

And the happy embrace that followed…

There were some happy tears, and just a few minutes to take in the moment. Then off to meet the family for photos…

Hey, we’re getting married….

Lindsey’s gorgeous flowers by Karen at Lilac Florals. And, a stolen kiss…

Are they cute or what?

Friend arrive for photos…

Sometimes I think the wedding day means as much to the proud mommas as it does to the happy couple. Love these moments with Bobby & Lindsey’s lovely mommas, Marsi & Cindi.

Gabby the flower girl extraordinaire was just precious…like a sweet little angel and this moment with her new auntie melts my heart.

Bobby & his boys…

Lindsey & her lovely ladies…

The gang is all here…hello blue sky!

Some alone time before the ceremony begins… Can we talk about the joy on their faces? Just love it!

Love is….having moments like this to share with future generations. Ahhhh

Hello sexy people…

Stunning couple…

“I’m holding you closer than most…because you are my heaven”  ~Ron Pope

Guests take their seats for the ceremony…

Bobby & his beautiful mom, Marsi, & super sweet dad, John, prepare to walk down the aisle, followed closely by Lindsey’s mom, Cindy, escorted by her son, Bill, as Lindsey & her dad, Stephen, watch the action from up above, in the Wequassett’s private dining room.

Guests greet one another…

Bobby catches a glimpse of Lindsey as she & her dad get ready to make their way down the aisle.

Do smiles get any bigger than this? I think not!

Meanwhile, Bobby gets overcome by emotion. I just love when this happens….especially after they already had their first look. Just too sweet! Love the expressions on his friends’ faces too.

Awww…

Lindsey & Bobby listen to a reading…

There he goes again….honestly, I can’t take it!

Yaaaay for love, oh glorious love!

We did it! Yaaay!

A big heart-felt and most welcoming hug for her new daughter-in-law.

More momma hugs…

Love the Tuscan table design by Jen at The Pink Polka Dot, and the gorgeous orchids. White & burnt umber….such a lovely combo.

A little slice of heaven, with a wonderful in white cake by Konditor Meister and first dance with dad.

Friends boogie on down with music by Flipside.

John & Marsi bust a move with friends.

Once again, we’d like to thank Kalson  & Jen for making sure everything ran smoothly, making our jobs not only easy, but most enjoyable. And, big thanks to Lindsey & Bobby, your families and friends for welcoming us with open arms and sharing with us this special time in your lives. We LOVED being a part of your wedding and hope these photos serve as happy reminders for many years to come! Big love & hugs, Christine & Andy xoxo
