Tanya & Stu’s Wareham Wedding ~ Cape Cod Photographers

Love. Ceremony. Celebration….and, the beauty that can be found in all of those things is pretty much what summarizes the experience of documenting a wedding for us. Although there are common elements in most weddings, each is unique and each carries with it an opportunity to stretch ourselves….to push our creativity and open our hearts to be ready to capture real moments as they happen. Sometimes, I’ll admit, it’s not always easy to do that, but with Tanya & Stu….it was.

Right from our first meeting, we felt a connection to these two warm, generous, wonderful people…an openness and a willingness to share and let us in to see their special kind of love. When we get that, it opens something in us and makes capturing the beauty of love, ceremony & celebration not only easy…but super fun, and also incredibly emotional.

It was really hard to narrow down all of the images we captured to a small collection for this blog. We like to tell our couples’ story here, but theirs is so layered and beautiful, picking just a few doesn’t somehow seem to do justice to Tanya & Stu or their day…but we’re going to try. So, without further ado, here is a sneak peek at Tanya & Stu’s crazy wonderful wedding day…. (for more background on this lovely couple, check out our love session with them last fall HERE)

The wedding took place at Stu’s family’s property in a hidden gem of Wareham that makes this Cape Cod girl want to move across the bridge. Truly, this area of Wareham is so beautiful & peaceful and with everything that makes Cape Cod so special, yet without any of the drawbacks…like traffic, congestion and hordes of people. It was a treat to spend some time here, and what a backdrop to highlight some of the gorgeous details of the day, including Tanya’s stunning Pronovias wedding gown and her stunning bridesmaid bouquets from Flowers by Semia.

Like slippers made for a princess…

Stu’s wedding band was engraved with his & Tanya’s initials and their wedding date….so sweet!

The talented ladies from I Do Wedding Hair New England gave Tanya her beautiful, natural wedding day glow…not that she needed much help. She’s already stunning…inside & so obviously out!

Sweet Stu getting ready…with super cute sailboat socks. Stu is a gifted professional sailor and an award-winning member of the U.S. Olympic team…and still the most humble guy you’ll ever meet! Love him!!

The first look….looove the way these two look at each other.

Beautiful….people & flowers.

A candid moment during the family photos between Beth, Stu’s crazy sweet momma, and Tanya. What I loved so much about these families is the way they embraced each other with such love. Beth kept referring to Tanya as her new daughter and with two sons, you could tell she was happy for the addition…not just for the added girl power, but because she genuinely loves & cares for Tanya. Just so sweet!

Tanya’s adorable parents, Sinh & Mynga. Love these two moments…

Stu & his sweet Dad, John, exchange a candid moment between photos.

Cuddling cuties! Stu & Tanya used golf carts to transport guests to and from the ceremony & reception area. Functional and fun!

Andy & I love finding spots that most people would walk right past and using it as a backdrop. These woods, next to the driveway had light streaming through in the most magical way….

Pretty woods, magic light and a gorgeous couple = homerun!

Love the way these two laugh & play together…just so delicious!

Dreamy…the look of love!

Off to the ceremony….but first we stopped in the middle of the tree lined road for a few more smooches…

A quick kiss and off to one more location before they say, “I do!!”

Stu’s brother’s property is right on the ocean, with a gorgeous stone-lined step path to the water, and this beautiful built-in bench, a perfect perch for our sweeties!

Like a pair of love birds in their nest…

To the dock for some more snuggling!

It was windy & wonderful and beachy perfection.

Sexy legs…

Leading to love…

Stu watches as the ceremony begins and his bride makes her way to him…

Love these faces!! Such gratitude and adoration….just so beautiful!

wild & wonderful

Stu & Tanya’s friend Teddy did a fabulous job officiating…infusing love & humor and pure heart in the ceremony.

Stu & Tanya wrote their own vows…..swoon!

Beth looks on with such love written all over her beautiful face!!!

Tanya holds tightly to Stu as she makes her vows to him. I love this…when couples get their strength/comfort from each other’s touch.

Sealed with a kiss….and forever I am yours and you are mine.

We did it!!!! Woooo hoooo!!

Loved the table settings…with a casual chic vintage feel, lace runners, lead glass votive holders mixed with vintage glass jars and fresh cut flowers.

Loved the personalized thank you notes on the table, with fresh herb twigs.

The cupcake tower by My Sweet Indulgence was ADORABLE!! Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try one, but boy did they look deee-licious!

Guests enjoying themselves during cocktail hour, which took place in a big field, with wooden barrel tables to gather around, and corn hole games to play. So fun!

Tanya & Stu also brought in a shuck truck from Cabin Cover Oysters, which was crazy cool and guests were eating them up!

Cocktails & conversation…

The gang gathers for introductions…love this cute wave by Marissa & Natalie…such sweet gals!

Loved watching Tanya & Stu’s first dance…it was as if no one else in the world existed for them in that moment. Sooo sweet!

Like Tanya, I nearly lost it when her dad gave his toast. It was obvious…he said as much so…that he wasn’t one to express how he felt or how proud he was of Tanya…but he laid it all out there in that speech and it was beautiful. Watching him stand there, vulnerable and exposed, and hear him talk about all of his daughter’s accomplishments and all of her wonderful qualities, knowing that saying so was not something that came easily for him (even though the feelings were obviously always there) was so incredibly touching. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only one fighting back tears.

A grateful daughter. A proud dad. A wonderful moment!!!

One of Tanya’s MOHs, Ana Lauren, gets an equally big & appreciative hug following her speech. Love how Stu’s is holding on too….so freaking cute! I’m telling you…the love at this wedding was palpable!

And the fun level was off the hook!!! Love this moment as a friend rips off his tie and breaks it down!!!

Go Ana Lauren. Go, girl!!

Boston-based cover band Flipside didn’t disappoint and had guests tearing it up!!

Including our bride & groom. I have a theory….a couple who dances together stays happy together.

A little love to end a lovely day!!

Andy & I loved working with Jamie Bohlin from Cape Cod Celebrations for this incredible wedding. There were lots of moving parts, and Jamie & her staff did an incredible job of keeping everything moving smoothly forward and looking crazy good! Thanks Jamie for making our job such a pleasure!!! Special thanks too to Beth, Joe, Mynga & Sinh for sharing your lovely children with us and for being such a joy to work with and just generally be around. We loved getting to be a part of this incredible milestone for your families and hope these photos serve as happy reminders for many love-filled years to come! And, finally, to Tanya & Stu…..thank you for welcoming us with such warm, open arms. Thank you for sharing your beautiful love & gentle hearts with us…for showing us the real you that makes you both so special! It’s couples like you who makes us continually fall in love with our work! We can’t wait to share the entire collection of wonderful, love-filled moments with you. Until then, we hope you enjoy this sneak peek. Love you guys! With big love & hugs, Chris & Andy xoxo

Tanya & Stu’s Wareham Rehearsal Dinner ~ Cape Cod Wedding Photographers

Andy & I love rehearsal dinners. We loved our own (which was a bit unorthadox and mainly involved putting our family & friends to work and then ordering pizza afterwards…but it was a chance for us to all be together, and that hasn’t really happened again since). We also love attending them as guests…I mean who doesn’t love noshing on some hors d’oeuvres while catching up with friends. And, we also love photographing them.

There is so much that happens on a wedding day. There’s lots of emotional build up and anticipation and the rehearsal dinner can be a more chilled out version of the wedding, where family & friends gather to celebrate the couple and the commitment they’re about to make to one another. There are often touching speeches, tokens of appreciation exchanged and general merry-making.

Andy & I love photographing them because they offer a preview of things to come at the wedding. We get to meet family members we haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting and it gives them a chance to feel more comfortable with us, and ultimately the more comfortable someone feels with us, the better our photos will be. But, really, what we love most about the rehearsal dinner is watching our couples soak in all the love being showered on them. There are few opportunities in life when everyone you love & care most about in this world comes together in joyful celebration. So, getting to be a part of that…two days in a row, is pretty awesome!

Tanya & Stu’s rehearsal dinner a few weeks ago in Wareham was all this and more. It was relaxed, fun, a beautiful evening, with boiled lobsters, grilled steaks, stunning views and lots of love & smiling faces.

We have a strong affection for Tanya and Stu, who are two of the most in love, kind, caring, warm & wonderful people you could ever hope to meet. We had been looking forward to their wedding weekend with excitement and anticipation, knowing it would be a total love fest. As expected, it was all that and more…kicking off with their chilled out lobster boil backyard rehearsal dinner.

Here are just a few moments from their wonderful evening…

Family members say hello with big hugs…..sigh!

Happy, smiling faces….our faves!

One of Tanya’s Matrons of Honor, Karima, was very pregnant for the wedding, and having seen how exhausting those last couple of weeks can be for our momma friends & family, my heart melted when I noticed this sweet moment as Karima got some love & comfort from her very attentive hubby. I expect the baby has arrived by now? If so, big congrats to the new parents!!!

You know how parents aren’t supposed to say they have favorites among their children, but they generally do? Well, that’s how I feel about Tanya & Stu. We have so many amazing couples we get to know, work with and make part of our bello family, and although we love them all dearly, there are a few who stand out…whose love shines so bright and is so true and beautiful that just getting to be around that kind of example makes you want to be a better person, a more attentive partner. Tanya & Stu are that kind of couple for us. When you see them looking at each other, you just know theirs is the kind of love we all strive for….kind, gentle, pure of heart and full of goodness. I love this next photo because in it I can feel the strength of their love…It was just a quick moment, Stu grabbed Tanya’s hand as they were talking with friends, but I was immediately drawn to the way he took her hand in his…with strength, but also this reverence…like it was the most precious thing he’d ever held. And, that pretty much sums up how these two feel about each other. You just can’t help wanting to be around that kind of love.

More friends, including one of Stu’s besties, Fred…..I think Stu’s friends are the perfect reflection of Stu himself. They are all seriously good men.

Stu’s crazy sweet momma, Beth….one of the nicest women ever!! Just such a warm, kind, loving lady. Love this group so much!

Some of Tanya’s besties, Marissa & Katrina find a quiet spot to practice their speeches for later. They were so adorably nervous, but did an AMAZING job!! Way to knock it out of the park ladies! xx

As welcoming as they are, Tanya & Stu happily included all of their friends & family’s dogs in the celebration. This little guy was hoping we might be stopping by with some food…sorry, love…no luck.

Lobsters & love…pretty awesome combination!

Tanya & Stu with Stu’s proud and very sweet dad, Joe.

As if the heavens were smiling down on this union, Tanya & Stu got the most gorgeous blue sky to cap off their rehearsal dinner party.

Taking a moment to give thanks for all of the love & kind words showered on them throughout the night….

We can’t wait to share with you the main event…it was off the hook beautiful…in every way!! More to come soon! For now, big, big thanks to Tanya & Stu and their families & friends for including us in such a wonderful weekend of love! It truly is people like you who make us love what we do!!! Big hugs, Chris & Andy xoxoxo

Kate & Hugh’s Woods Hole Wedding ~ Cape Cod Wedding Photographers

Despite their size difference, Kate & Hugh are one of those couples that when you see them together, it’s hard to deny that they just FIT together…..and I mean, fit perfectly! They share the same sense of fun, abundant love for one another, and a sincere passion for living life to its fullest.

Their wedding, at Kate’s family’s summer home in Woods Hole, was a true reflection of those things they hold most dear. It was also quite a party! With 400 guests, a 28-person bridal party and dancing that seemed like it might never stop…it was a day filled with love & happy celebration! It was so wonderful to watch Kate’s parents, Nancy & Craig, beam with pride over their baby girl and the union they so obviously supported, all while throwing a party of Great Gatsby-like proportions. It truly was an amazing day, and, Andy & I were honored to have been there to document all of that joyful exaltation!

Here’s a peek at their F A B U L O U S wedding:

Kate’s stunning Monique Lhullier wedding gown and make up by the talented Katrina Hess. Hair by the fabulous Marisa Marino of Stilisti Salon.

Simply gorgeous! And, that happy expression was the one she was wearing all day long!

Sexy hot pink Christian Dior shoes and some seriously sexy bling to match! Looove!

Kate’s super sweet momma, Nancy, was beaming (and getting a little welled up) with pride and love for her sweet girl, as she sees her dressed and ready to marry her best friend.

The excitement builds….

Kate’s besties react to seeing their gorgeous friend…

Meanwhile, down the road a bit, Hugh gets dressed and ready with his favorite guys. Part of his wedding wear included these cufflinks that belonged to his grandfather and namesake, former Governor of New York Hugh Carey.

Looking good in his custom-designed Vineyard Vine tie, featuring flags with his & Kate’s initials.

Thumbs up to the cool ties….

Having some fun with his mates…

Hugh arrives in style for the ceremony, then takes a moment for a quick photo with his guys, including his best man and little brother, Donnie.

Kate & her proud papa, Craig, ready to enter the church….love these emotional expressions. Weddings are so freaking awesome!

I love this photo and the appropriate symbolism of the past, the present and the future depicted in the reflections seen in the church doors.

Giving away his baby girl….LOOOVE! Seriously, be still my daddy-lovin’ heart!

And embracing his new son……more love!!!

The love & laughter, oh how it did flow….

Hugh & Kate’s flower girls were crazy cute and really getting into the ceremony….

As a surprise to their guests, Hugh & Kate delivered the communion during their wedding mass. So lovely.

The new Mr. & Mrs.! Yaaahoooo! (if only people would put down their cell phones and bask in the glory of the moment!

Hugh is a little too tall for the car they made their get-away in. Watching him try to squish in was precious….almost as much as Kate’s face as she watched in delight.

The happy couple….

We went to the house Hugh’s dad had rented to do some photos, but first, a little snack for our newly married couple….I really LOVE candid moments like these. Totally my faves.

A vision…..

The old house has such character…and Kate’s stunning dress suited it perfectly.

Heading down to the gardens for photos….

Jumping for joy….

Hugh’s guys and his girl…..so fun!

Our sweet couple….

Love and a pink, heart-shaped bush….it was meant to be! Seriously…a pink, heart shaped bush! It’s like it was made for this moment!

Hot pink and ready to party….

Hugh & Kate and their bridal party sailed over to the reception, captained by Kate’s dad….does this look like an ad for Ralph Lauren or what??

As they approached the party, Hugh & Kate released some balloons…..letting their love rise to the heavens. Ahhhhh….

Meanwhile, a staff of several dozen from The Catered Affair prepared for dinner, canopied beneath a gorgeous Sperry Tent, with flowers by the incomparable Winston Flowers.

Love this super sweet basket-weave cake by Icing on the Cake.

One of Hugh & Kate’s signature drinks…..looks as good as their guests. Hello sexies!

Cocktail hour candid moments…my faves.

Hugh’s beautiful momma, Pam, digs in to the raw bar.

As Hugh & Kate make their arrival to the reception, greeted by lots of happy waves.

Trying to corral 400 people was no easy feat…but we did it. Wooo hooo!

Yay for love…and for Hugh & Kate!

This is what I strive for…..love like this, after so many years. Truly, is there anything more beautiful?

An entrance for the ages…..you go gurls!

Kate & Hugh’s dance had all of the fun, flair and love you’d expect from these two. And, their guests ate it up!

The final twirl….delightful!

Kate & Hugh’s party kicked off straight away, with our happy couple joining The Sultans of Swing for a bar or two of song! So awesome!

The sun sets as dinner is served….so Great Gatsby!

I had to grab my tripod when I saw this moment, as one of the flower girls, dances on her own during dinner. Like a fairytale come to life!

And, a little while later the party kicked into high gear with some Vineyard Vines inspired limbo. Kate & Hugh provided a ton of ridiculously fun hats for their guests to play with…LOVE!! Check out Cheesburger head following up his wife for some limbo action. AMAZEBALLS!

“Hey sharky, I wanna eat you up”….so playful & fun! Thanks guys!

Fun! Fun! Fun!

The night ended as high as one can, with Hugh & Kate taking center stage and leading one of the most amazing renditions of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing. I love this view of them in embrace, as their friends & family cheer them on! Just wonderful!

Kate & Hugh…what can we say?! Your wedding was just so incredible, with memories made that will surely last a lifetime! Thank you so much (and thank you Nancy & Craig) for inviting us in and allowing us to be a part of all of that wonderful love & celebration! We had so much fun and hope these photos serve as happy reminders of all of the fun you so obviously had for many happy years to come! More to come soon!! Special thanks too to Jen from Pink Polka Dot Events for being amazing and also to Kat Hanafin for helping us capture some of the fabulous details and happy exchanges during cocktail hour. With lots of love & big hugs, Christine & Andy xoxo
