Lauren & Dustin’s Oyster Harbors Wedding ~ Cape Cod Photographers

Lauren & Dustin have the kind of love that inspires those around them to love bigger & sweeter…..and to sing at the top of their lungs while they’re doing it.

Andy & I have been fortunate enough to bear witness to hundreds of weddings, and we’ve seen love come in all shapes and sizes. But, in all these years of documenting weddings, I cannot recall another wedding where 250 of the couple’s friends & family gathered around, arm in arm, swaying, singing and delighting as two people they love danced their first dance as husband and wife.

Don’t get me wrong, we’ve seen a lot of good first dances, and some really stand out, even 14 years later. But, Lauren & Dustin’s first dance nearly had me so lost in the moment and so mesmerized that I wanted to put down my camera and just soak it all in….sponge up all that love & goodness, because being in that room, in that moment, you could actually feel the love. And, at the end of a long, busy summer season, it was just the elixir my tender heart needed.

I had been enjoying myself all day, but that first dance….it was just the coolest! Lauren & Dustin swayed and spun and loved up on each other dancing to Old Crow Medicine Show’s version of the Dylan classic, Wagon Wheel, which I have always thought was cool, but from now on, every time I hear that song, I’ll think of them, which makes it even cooler! (Play it in the background HERE as you look at these images and you might just feel the love too.)

Lauren & Dustin got married last month at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Falmouth. It was a glorious September day….warm, dry, sunny Cape Cod perfection. The getting ready process started in the morning, with Lauren at her parents’ Falmouth home. Dustin and his family were across the street at a neighbor’s home. Closeness was definitely at the core of this day of love & celebration and we are super excited to share this little sneak peek of Lauren & Dustin’s fabulous wedding. So without further ado…..

Lauren gets the finishing touches on her beautiful ocean blue eyes. Meanwhile her & Dustin’s beloved poochie, MeadowMae gets her wedding day bow.

Lauren’s crazy beautiful Lee Ann Belter gown, which came with this stunning lace jacket she wore for the ceremony. The neckline was stunning!

Lauren takes a quick look at herself before she heads downstairs to show her gal pals…

Lovely Lauren gets a warm reception from her beautiful besties….These girls were so fun and so warm & supportive. Love that kind of girl power!

Dapper Dustin….love the navy suit and hip bow tie!

Dustin’s mate and co-best man Keith gets a little help with his bow tie, while cousin and groomsman, Rickey, prepares to tape a GoPro to a liquor bottle…it’s time to party!

Reading a card from his soon-to-be missus and opening some pretty amazing cuff links Lauren got for him. Love his expression as he reads the card.

Lauren is absolutely glowing as she and her sweet Papa, Jack, make their way to St. Elizabeth Seton Church.

Loooove Dustin’s expression as he watches the love of his life make her way down the aisle…..Lauren and her dad look pretty happy too. Sighhhhhh!

Watching your children grow and make their own life must be one of the most heartwarming and simultaneously heart-wrenching things for a parent. You could almost feel the flutter of emotions Jack was experiencing in this moment. Just so beautiful.

So happy to be standing next to each other, surrounded by so much love & support.

Pledging hearts, exchanging vows, looking deep and with much love…..

With this ring, I thee wed.

Love Keith’s sweet, approving look as Lauren & Dustin seal it with a kiss.

Happy girl….

How Lauren & Dustin walked up the aisle together says so much about them and their wonderful love for each other. Close. Close. Close. Just adore these two!

After Lauren & Dustin’s happy “I dos!” they wanted to quickly stop at their favorite beach, back by Lauren’s parents’ home…

So they could also include sweet Meadow in some of the love & celebration. Such a cute family pic! I spy this year’s holiday card.

After a quick stop, we headed to the stunning Oyster Harbors Club in Osterville for some family & bridal party photos before guests began arriving for cocktail hour. Gotta say…..we just looooove when we have a gap of time like this to do photos and still cover the entire cocktail hour!!

You get yours girl….

These peeps were so much fun to be around and such a delight to photograph. Wish we could do it again!

The lovely ladies….such beauties!! Inside & out! xx

Champagne + oodles of love + a picture perfect setting = THIS

Some of the gorgeous details that peppered Lauren & Dustin’s day, including stunning white & green floral arrangements by Lilac Florals.

A familiar face to Team Bello, Tyler, the brother of one of our past grooms, Justin, enjoys himself during cocktail hour. It was so great to see Justin & Stefania and Justin’s family again!! We hadn’t seen them since their wedding six years ago. Also love these cool party favors, who doesn’t love a cute wine stopper?

One of my favorite parts of a wedding is watching couples together…Rickey and his gorgeous girlfriend were having too much fun together all day. Lauren & Dustin’s cake was super cool. They had collected, bleached and dried out the oyster shells especially to decorate their cake. They were so cool I actually thought they were white chocolate. Glad I didn’t try and steal a bite. (wink wink)

Love how I captured the bean bag perfectly in air with Lauren & Dustin’s initials & wedding date. Totally didn’t plan this, but couldn’t have asked for better positioning!!

The happy was contagious….and delightful to document.

What ever did we do before our phones were also cameras???

Easy, breezy, beautiful…..

Everyone say, “Cheese!”

Sneaking a kiss during the group photo…

I love a late summer wedding, the sun sets a little earlier, it’s still warm and everyone wants to be outside. As cocktail hour winded to a close on the back lawn, overlooking the water, the sun set, blanketing the day in a warm orange embrace that seemed perfectly befitting Lauren & Dustin.

Like I said earlier….Lauren & Dustin’s first dance was so special, with everyone gathered around, singing along and cheering them on. So much love it was palpable.

Toasting to love…

Big hugs from bestie Katie, whose toast was warm, sweet, funny….perfect.

As was the roast, I mean toast, from Dustin’s besties Keith & Dana. These guys are the kind of best friends everyone wishes they had.

They even cracked each other up…..LOVE!

Smiles all around…

More happy….

After speeches were done, the happy moved to the dance floor, where everyone got their party on….

Sweet Caitlin and her lovely mister get serenaded by the band’s sax player.

This next photo was soooooo fun to capture. I believe the young man in the wheelchair is Lauren’s cousin, and Andy & I watched him absolutely light up the place when his dad wheeled him out onto the dance floor so he could get his boogie on. I remember we had a moment like this at my sister’s wedding, when my aunt wheeled out the mom of my new brother-in-law, who was battling pretty severe MS. My brother-in-law’s mom loved being included and the loving attention lavished on her. My sister and her hubby danced around her and the joy was infectious. It was exactly the same at this wedding and it was so wonderful to watch and (passively) participate in!!!

Lauren’s adorable brother, Bill, gets his boogie on with bridesmaid Jennifer.

A little old school invisible jump rope…..woooo hooo!

One of my favorite songs at a wedding is Shout! People go nuts for it….and Lauren & Dustin were no exception….how low can you go??? Love this moment as one of the band’s singers sings right to Dustin & Lauren, with family & friends gathered in close.

Thank you Lauren & Dustin soooo very much for including us in your incredible wedding. You two….the way you love each other and those closest to you is so beautiful and we hope these photos reflect all that love & beauty! We hope too that you enjoy this little sneak peek as we wait to get your proof book back from the printer. Cannot wait to share it with you and all of the love & goodness that was your wedding day!! Thank you again for everything!! With big love & hugs, Chris & Andy xoxo

Emily & Eric’s Sandwich Wedding ~ Cape Cod Wedding Photographers

If you’re a regular visitor to this blog, you might remember Emily & Eric from our super fun Ohio engagement session with them back in October. And, if didn’t see it, you’ll want to check it out HERE! It was one for the memory books, complete with an adorable and obviously smitten couple, chickens, cows, classic red barns, and flowing fields of wildflowers….all that good Americana awesomeness.

Emily & Eric are busy teachers/administrators at a private boarding school in Barnsville, OH…population 4200, give or take a few…and had a hard time stealing away from work. So, they asked us to come to them for their Bello love session. Being huge fans of getting to work in new places, we happily said, “Yes!” And, are so glad we did, as it was a total blast, setting the tone for a wonderful relationship with these two sweethearts.

Their wedding, held a few weeks ago in the backyard of Emily’s parents’ Sandwich home ~ Toad Acres, was equally as amazing….no…better!! It was a picture perfect Cape Cod day ~ sunny and warm, but not too hot and very little humidity. We, their family and friends and our happy couple could not have asked for better.

Aided by the fabulous Allison Liset, and her wonderful team at Elegant Engagements, Emily & Eric made some wonderful (And, dare I say, super fun to photograph) choices for their wedding, including Emily’s A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. Anthropologie tea-length BHLDN wedding dress. We don’t see many short dresses and I say, “Why? Why? Why?” They’re so fun, chic and perfect for a backyard soiree! I just loved it!! And it suited Emily to a T!

They also had some really cool details, like vintage inspired cast iron chairs at long family style wooden tables, topped with lace runners and beautiful seasonal flowers by Lilac Florals, under one of Sperry Tents‘ classic sailcloth & wood post tents dotted with stringed cafe lights. And, when Emily said she wanted a jazzy, non-traditional band, we immediately suggested Carte Blanche, which truly was the perfect compliment to them and the vibe they were creating.

It really was a perfect day in every way, right from getting ready with the guys at the house and the girls at the Dan’l Webster Inn in downtown Sandwich.

It was actually a bit of deja vu for us as we’d photographed the wedding of Emily’s super sweet sis, Pam, seven years ago. Pam also married an Erik, Erik with a K, and they also had their wedding at their family’s home, with many of the same dream team vendors. Emily even got ready in the same suite as Pam. And, Jackie from Wedding Tresses did her hair & make up, like her big sis.

Below, Emily gets the finishing touches on her stunning wedding day look. Can we talk about those beautiful eyes and porcelain skin? Stunning!!!

Eric gets a little help from Emily’s brother, Sam, and soon-to-be brother-in-law Erik.

Emily is a vision in her beautiful dress and Stewart Weitzman shoes. The pearl necklace she borrowed from her mom, who only wore it once at her wedding. It was the perfect accessory!!!

Eric’s mate, Alex, happily gets ready, along with Erik.

Emily surrounded by her super sweet gal pals: (left to right) Katie, Maisy, Liz (Eric’s sis), Sarah and Pam (Emily’s sis and former Bello bride).

Eric & his mates: (left to right) Alex, Sam, Alex, Erik & Musa. Love the real smiles!!

Eric looks so serene waiting for a first glance at his beautiful bride….

Happy. Happy. Glorious happy!

Love the elegant, yet wild look to Emily’s bouquet. And, these two…..could they be any cuter!?! I think not!

Sweetness personified in these two!! And, an we talk about the Great Gatsby like setting….looooove it!!

Beautiful, radiant, brilliant, wonderful Emily…

A perfect match + the perfect day + a picture perfect tree swing = a wedding dream!

Emily’s parents’ home is right on a pond and the setting was spectacular for their special day. How could these two not smile???

As did their friends arriving for the start of the ceremony…

Alex greets guests as they arrive. Love the smile!

More smiles….all day long!

Candid photos of guests arriving to support their friends are some of my faves of the wedding day….you can just feel the love & joyful celebration brewing.

Musa & Katie walk down the aisle while members of Carte Blanche provide the soundtrack. So much happiness…

This next one is one of my faves from the day. As Emily & her crazy sweet parents, Wendy & John, headed out of the house to make their way down the aisle, they stopped briefly and shared this moment and a few words. I would love to know what they were saying, but if their expressions are any indication, I’d say there were lots of love in those words. Just beautiful!!

Here comes the bride… these moments too. In Eric’s expression, as he & Emily lock eyes, I can feel the hope, promise, and true love that weddings carry….just the best!

John moved by the moment…..LOOOOOOVE his proud papa expression!! And, Wendy’s too! Love these guys!

“I do!” “I will!” Always & forever….

Toe to toe and hand in hand, I pledge my heart to thee….

The look of love and the kiss that says forever…

We did it…..wooooo hoooo!

Hugs of happiness….

Kisses & cuddles and a blanket of wisteria, oh my!

Love these two together…..

Eric’s family toasts Emily with the happy couple’s signature 1691 whiskey, ginger lemon cocktail in vintage ball glass jars. So cute!

Emily’s cousin looks for his name on the adorable clothesline place card holder.

Toasting with oysters, Cape Cod style…..Yeaaah!

More beautiful, happy faces. Like the photos of guests arriving, candid photos during cocktail hour, particularly at outdoor weddings, are just the best!! Love when our couples opt for the first look to do all of their family photos before the ceremony. It leaves lots of time for capturing happy moments like these…

And these….Sarah & Katie with their super sweet fellas.

John enjoying himself….so fun!!

Picture perfect details….

And sweet sounds from the band…

Tender moments of love during first dances as Mr. & Mrs…..ahhhhhhh!!!!

Life…it’s all about love and perspective!

Toasting the happy couple….such wonderful toasts at this wedding!

A big hug from mom! Be still my momma-lovin’ heart!

If every day could be just like this….the stuff from which dreams are made.

Getting silly with the cake cutting…

Sharing a sweet moment and dance with dad. I see this and in my head plays the song, “These are the days you’ll remember,” by 10,000 Maniacs.

Get it, girl….

Sarah & her boyfriend, Ben, performed a very sweet serenade for Emily & Eric. It was lovely, just like these two.

Emily & Eric taking in all the love & tenderness….

What more perfect way to cap off a perfect evening than with fireworks over the pond? Razzle, dazzle, delightful!!

And, before we end this post, we wanted to share just a little sneak peek from Emily & Eric’s rehearsal dinner the night before at the Dan’l Webster Inn. What a wonderful night of toasts and sharing and general loveliness!

Thank you Wendy & John for once again including us in another incredible family day of love & celebration!!! You two are so blessed to have such an incredible family!! We love you guys!!! Denise & Jim, thank you both for inviting us to share in the rehearsal dinner pre-wedding celebration extraordinaire and for welcoming us with such open arms & open hearts!! Emily & Eric….how do we begin to thank you for everything? You two were such wonderful hosts in Ohio and have made us feel like an important part of your wedding. We’ve truly loved every minute we’ve spent with you both and look forward with great excitement and expectation to the wonderful journey that lies ahead of you both!!! May your always be surrounded by such love & support! May your love light the sky like fireworks and may you always remember this incredible weekend and all of these love-filled moments when times get tough and the challenges that life and marriage can bring feel too much to carry. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing this time, these days, and your beautiful love with us and for letting us preserve these memories for you and for future generations to enjoy!

With big love & deepest gratitude, Christine & Andy xoxo

Christine & Stephen’s Wequassett Wedding ~ Cape Cod Photographers

Andy & I are in the business of love.

That sounds so sweet….so virtuous, so easy, perhaps even glamorous, doesn’t it? But there are times when it doesn’t feel that way….at all!

I say this having spent every day this week in either my pjs or yoga pants & some stained t-shirt or another, hair in a messy bun…teeth perhaps brushed/perhaps not, glued to my computer, editing thousands of photos…one-at-a-freaking-time.

Seriously, this week I reached the pinnacle of personal neglect. I’ve completely dropped the ball on any kind of household chores, haven’t picked up the phone to call friends or family in ages. Don’t even get me started on the complete lack of exercise…I think my butt has actually flattened (more) from the the 11- hour days of sitting, staring at the computer. And, we’ve been forced to eat (often while in front of our computers) some form of pasta nearly every meal because neither of us has made it to the supermarket. It’s bad.

But, this is what we do…in the name of love.

And, we do it because it’s important, because we don’t know how to do it any other way, and…because we love our work. We love the people we work with and we love that our work matters to them, that in some teeny-tiny way, we’re leaving what we hope is a positive mark on the world, one love-filled wedding at a time.

Weeks like this one test that love…for sure. But, then a card comes in the mail….two, in fact….each so full of love & gratitude, so genuine, so kind and caring….and all that hard work is affirmed worthwhile. So, we wipe the pasta sauce from our faces and sit up a little taller in our computer chairs, editing with new vigor, sweetly reminded that we wedding photographers are soldiers…. in this business of love.

I don’t say any of this looking for praise or recognition, it’s just where my head is at after a particularly busy week of editing, and after many similarly busy ones, as I glance to the beautiful card we got from Christine & Stephen, trying to think of what to say that will live up to how amazing these two people are and how full of love their wedding was…and falling short. All that pasta has made my brain soft.

Sooooo, I’m going to cop out, and let the photos do the talking. But, know this….these two are two of the sweetest. Their wedding last month at the beautiful Wequassett Resort was spectacular….the weather was perfect, the couple looked perfect, their friends and family were so warm & welcoming and TOTALLY up for a good time. The stars aligned and the magic moments appeared before our cameras, begging to be documented. It was like hunting fish in a barrel. The love was on fire.

Before I say something more embarrassing….here are the lovely Christine & Stephen on their most magnificent wedding day…But first some of the lovely details that decorated their day, including Christine’s crazy beautiful Caroline Castigliano wedding gown and her pretty in pink flowers by Meredith Fancy.

Mirror, mirror on the wall….who’s the fairest of them all?….CHRISTINEEEEEE! With her stunning wedding day look by Jen Needre at Bellezza Salon in Falmouth.

Meanwhile, across the resort, Christine’s handsome groom, Stephen, gets ready with his besties.

Christine’s MOHs, Abby & Johanna lend a helping hand.

All buttoned up….

Necklace, earrings and beautiful crystal beaded belt, and away we go….

Soooo GQ!! I love this action shot Andy likes to do from time to time….love the movement and the suggestion of being surrounded by the support of friends.

Christine’s crazy sweet dad, Dick, nearly fell to pieces when he saw his baby girl all done up. Just delightful!!!

Stephen was pretty smitten at the site of his soon-to-be wife as well. It’s funny, we often have couples question the first look….some are concerned that they won’t have that “moment” when the groom sees his bride for the first time coming down the aisle, but even having a first look, and spending over an hour doing family photos, Stephen was still wiping tears when Christine came down the aisle. This way you get TWO moments. LOOOVE!

What I love so much about this two is the way they balance and compliment each other. And even in the seemingly quietest moments, they still make each other laugh. {Swoooooooon!}

The look of love…..

The gang’s all here…

Christine & Stephen expressed more than once when we first met that they were really nervous about being photographed because they both look “really awkward in photos.” I can’t tell you how many people say this to us….and then get in front of our cameras and look like THIS. I mean seriously??!!

Christine is particularly hard on herself (like another Christine we might know), but when I look at her I see a Hollywood starlet. Seriously Christine, you are stunning…in every way!!

Hey lovelies…..Happy, happy, and…..

More happy….

Moments before the big moment…love how serious Stephen looks.

Guests excitedly await the start of the ceremony.

Christine’s crazy sweet and drop dead gorgeous momma, Linda, with Christine’s equally sweet and dapper younger brother, Brian, make their way down the aisle looking very happy. Have I mentioned how much I love happy?? Loooove!

Oh, Christine….that expression….just precious! See guys…doesn’t matter if you have a first look or not…if you’re an emotional person, the emotion will still be there. Promise!

This next photos of Stephen smiling at Christine as she stands with her dad was taken after Stephen had a few seconds to compose himself and wipe away his tears. He was making funny faces trying to hold it together, so we thought we’d be kind and share this one instead.

Christine’s own happy tears pool in eyes filled with such love. Be still my heart….

A carpet of petals and a smile full of heart….

As if the kiss at the altar wasn’t enough, these two happy souls had to stop midway down the aisle for one more!! Yaaaay for love!!!

After the ceremony, we took our happy couple off for a couple of moments alone, to soak in what had just happened. And, it is in these moments that I find myself smiling most broadly.

The romance and tenderness is almost too much…

Just beautiful…..can I say that? I can, right?…I mean the photo is lovely, but they are making it so.

I call this one….smokin’ hot! heee heeee

Love the classic elegance of these flowers by Fancy Flowers.

Special seats for special peeps…

Christine really thought of every single detail, including a special wedding hashtag, which we happily used. Meanwhile, guests enjoy cocktail hour and Wequassett’s stunning view.

Cocktail hour candids are my favorite….people having fun and enjoying connecting.

Ending their first dance with a delightful dip.

Reacting to speeches…

Love this next stolen moment…it’s as if they are the only people in the room.

Christine & Stephen have some FUN friends, and so why not a fun perspective on their big group dance?

Dick was delighting in this moment….and so was I!

Get down on it….

The end of the night….the beginning of a new life.

Big thanks to Christine & Stephen and their wonderful families & friends. You two are blessed to be surrounded by such love and support. We feel so grateful to have met those most special to you and to have spent such a meaningful weekend with all of you! We adore each of you as individuals, and love seeing you together as a couple! Thank you for your really sweet card this week and the incredibly generous gift certificate…you didn’t have to do that!! But, we hope you’ll come down and see us and put it to good use with us. 🙂 Thank you guys for everything and for reminding us why we are so lucky to be in this business of love! With big love & hugs, Chris & Andy xoxo
