Heather, Jesse & Family Beach Session

If you know me at all, you know family is super important to me. Being with Andy, my dad and his partner, my sisters and their hubbies, my nieces & nephews, cousins and aunties…it’s just where my bliss can be found.  Don’t get me wrong, we have our share of family drama…like everyone. But, when we all get together and everyone is clicking and enjoying each other, there is little else that makes me as happy.

And, when I look back over my life, I am sometimes struck by how quickly the time has passed and how those moments of togetherness and family bonding are so fleeting, too far and in between. And life seems to have move at a pace which leaves me feeling as if I can’t keep up.

So, documenting families has become a bit of a passion for me. It’s a way of giving families an excuse to stop and just be…..together, to enjoy a sunset and a couple of hours of silliness on the beach (or whatever favorite place they covet).

We get to document that time of togetherness for them and in turn, they provide a beautiful visual reminder to us of just how precious our moments of family togetherness are….and how we ought to savor them, because before we know it, the kids are grown, having kids of their own and all that is left are our memories and if we’re lucky….photographs that highlight our time with one another.

This time of year, Andy & I are generally so busy that there is very little time for enjoying togetherness with our own families. But, this summer, we got to enjoy a rare week away with family. It was an incredible time of enjoying one another…something I am sure we will all treasure forever (thank you sweet Debbie for making it happen!!!). My only regret is that I didn’t hire someone to document our togetherness. Andy & I took some photos, but it’s not the same as having someone else do it for you…someone who allows us as photographers to be present, in the moment, and part of the story. I won’t make that mistake again!

Anyway, family time is special…and it was something I was thinking a lot about when we got together with a very special family a couple of weeks ago. We met up with Heather & Jesse, whom we first met when they were planning their 2011 Wequassett wedding.

Andy & I fell pretty hard for Heather & Jesse and their wedding was everything we knew it would be and more! We’ve been fortunate that they’ve kept in touch over the years. But, we hadn’t met their sweet kids, Ella & Jackson, until our recent get together at Chatham Lighthouse Beach.

We LOVE kids…we love their energy and enthusiasm for life’s little things. We love their innocence and curiosity…their timidity or excitability. Getting to be around children brings us both a lot of joy. But, Heather & Jesse’s kids were exceptionally awesome! They are the perfect combination of their parents and our bond with them was instantaneous. And, it’s why I think the photos came out so awesome….if I do say so myself.

I’ve already blathered on too long…and if you’ve read this far, I’d be surprised. So, let’s just get to the good stuff….Say “Hi!” to Heather, Jesse, Ella & Jackson, and prepare to fall in love…as we have.

These are some very happy kiddos…..makes it hard not to smile looking at them, doesn’t it?!

Kids loooove when adults act ridiculous. Fortunately, I am very good at acting ridiculous! In this next one, I was crawling around on the ground, growling like a lion and challenged Ella & Jackson to give it a try. They were not opposed!!

After we all got comfortable, it was time to get at least one Christmas Card photo for mom & dad. Taaa Daaa!

Then back to silliness….which is my favorite way to be…and to photograph families being.

Because sometimes amid all the fun, the kids give you this….

And this…. Sweet momma, I love these moments. Breaks my heart a little that I won’t ever have one of my own, but I just love watching women who I admire and care about enjoying their special moments!!!

Big sister pig pile….yummy!

Ella is a ham and I just loved out time together. She was silly and sweet, playful and just generally super excited to be spending the evening on the beach with her family and her two funny new friends. I wanted to take a few photos of her on her own, and all of a sudden she gave me this pose and face….I nearly fell in the sand. Love her! Meanwhile, Andy captured this super sweet moment with Jackson, who was admiring a piece of driftwood he found.

Come on Daddy….this way!!

Mom, I’m so funny…..Yes, Jackson…you are!!

I love this next photo….it makes me think about where these two were in their lives when we first met them and how far their love has taken them since. I am excited to see where their love will take them next!

A family that plays together, stays together.

Days like these….where we are with the ones we love most, just enjoying the moment. Being present and open….it’s what it’s all about!

It’s a wrap….the sun has set on a wonderful evening with some really wonderful people and their wonderful little lovebugs! Togetherness preserved….

Heather & Jesse….thank you sooooo much for sharing your beautiful family with us! We remember when you first reached out to us for your wedding and how important preserving memories were to you. We hope we did you proud here with this sneak peek from our super fun evening together with your sweet boos! We absolutely loved seeing you both again and getting to meet Ella & Jackson was even more of a treat than we expected. Just adore them and both of you and we thank you so much for keeping in touch all of these years and for letting us be a part of your family togetherness time!  Big love & hugs, Christine & Andy xoxo

Kira & Adam’s Centerville Engagement Session ~ Cape Cod Wedding Photographers

Nothing makes a man fall faster in love than telling him you’re obsessed with pitch count. At least that’s how Adam knew Kira was the one for him.

After meeting like so many busy couples do today….online, Kira & Adam had been dating for a while when they attended their first Red Sox game together. During the game, Kira, who is admittedly a Type A person, confided in Adam that she was obsessed with pitch count. And being a big baseball fan himself, Adam was hooked.

Of course, it didn’t hurt that Kira is also beautiful, has a great sense of humor and quick laugh, a go get ’em approach to life and unwavering dedication to family.

“I love how funny she is and how she laughs so easily, even though I think I’m funnier,” he told us. “I love that she has a ‘crazy gung-ho’ motor and is able to wake up at 5am and go for the entire day. It motivates me to try to do the same, even though I”m not wired that way.”

I like to think it’s a really good sign when the one we love makes us want to be a better version of ourselves, just by being who they are. Andy is definitely that for me…although I’m not always good at following through.

For Kira, Adam is the yin to her yang….a stop and smell the roses kind of guy who reminds her to slow down and appreciate things more.

“I love that he’s created an amazing balance for me in my life. After a long, hard day at work, I feel lucky that I can come home and see him,” she told us, adding that she knew he was the one for her when she never got tired of spending time with him.

They’re both also incredibly passionate about family, particularly their nieces (Auntie gets it!!!), and look forward to starting their own family one day. For now, though, these two Boston beauties have their focus squarely set on their wedding, which will take place this October at Heritage Gardens in Sandwich.

Surprisingly, even with 13 years and nearly 200 weddings under our belts, we haven’t photographed a wedding there yet, which makes us super excited to be a part of this special joining. It doesn’t hurt that these two are crazy sweet and just utterly delightful to be around.Yay! Yay! And more Yay!

We got together with Kira & Adam a couple of weeks ago at Kira’s dad’s home in Centerville. With a beautiful, and meticulously maintained yard, it was the perfect place to begin….

Like so many of our couples, Kira & Adam confessed to being a little nervous about being photographed and not “overly schmaltzy” (I am totally making that expression part of my regular vocabulary!) but like every other couple who tells us this, they were just so much fun to photograph and despite what they said, looked very relaxed in front of our cameras.

We could quickly see the funny, joking rapport they share and were happy to capture those qualities….love the smiles!! So real and happy….just as it should be!

More playful giggles poolside.

I don’t know much about pitch count, but I know a couple that’s totally smitten when I see one…..SCORE!!!!

Kira’s face just lights up when she smiles, and she was smiling a lot during our session…perhaps Adam is right when he says he’s the funnier one?

Like a lovely pair of garden doves….

More silliness….yes, please!!

Next, we took a little walk to a nearby gazebo for some more kisses and smiles and giggles, oh my!

LOOOVE this next one Andy snapped. Just so much joy!!! Be still my joy-loving heart!

The look of love….

And, down to the beach for some more love & goodness…

The trees that lined the path to this beach made my heart beat a little faster….such perfect framing for a perfectly matched pair!

More playful perfection…

Wherever you lead, I will follow….by your side, always!

More Cape Cod charm….with our charming couple.

Beach grass, cedar beach fence and an adorable pair  = everything we need

Love these two…they’re just so sweet together and smile right from their hearts!

And, with a little walk on the beach, arm in arm, we say goodbye…

Kira & Adam, we loved chatting with you both on Skype that first time and were so happy when you decided you wanted us to be a part of this special time in your lives. You two made this session so fun for us and we can’t wait to be there with you both when you say, “I do!” surrounded by the people who love you most!! Thank you too, Ron, for inviting us into your home and for making your yard look so darned good. It was the perfect backdrop!! Cannot wait to meet the rest of your families!! Until then, we hope you all enjoy this sneak peek as much as we enjoyed capturing these moments for you!! Big love & hugs, Chris & Andy xoxo (PS…off to go read up what pitch count means!)

Thanksgiving Family Session ~ Cape Cod Photographers

We’ve said this before, but we really do love it when our wedding couples come back to us to share the next happy milestone in their lives….children. Not only do we get to spend time with our ole’ pals, but we get to share in the excitement of where their journey from marriage has taken them.

It’s like getting invited to the first chapter reading of a fabulous hit novel, as read by the author. Okay, that’s a little goofy, but we really do love it.

A couple of weeks ago, while they were home for Thanksgiving, we got together with MaryHelen & Kurt, one of our super sweet and ridiculously fun bello couples who said, “I do!” at the Hyannisport Golf Club a few years ago. To illustrate how fun these two are, their first dance song was Huey Lewis’s “The Power of Love.” I mean, come on! Too fun!

In August of last year, MaryHelen & Kurt welcomed a sweet little boy, named Leo, into their world of fun. We’d been following their progress on Facebook, and were so happy when MaryHelen’s mom, Helen, reached out to us to schedule a session  with Leo over the holidays.

We had done a session for Helen’s other adorable grandkids two summers ago (Click HERE for a peek.) and she wanted to add Leo’s sweet little face to her family wall of love. Her living room walls are covered with giant photos of the kids we’d taken. It’s a bit humbling walking in and seeing our work displayed in such a beautiful way. We’re so grateful that our work has such meaning to our families. {happy sigh}

The day we’d planned to get together was as one might expect at the end of November….COLD! But, we braved the chilly temps and headed out for some fun at a local park in Osterville. Here’s a peek at our time together…

Leo & Gammy enjoy a stroll..

MaryHelen and her sweet boo. Is he an angel or what?

Talk about a mini-me. Leo looks just like his proud papa. Love!

Our happy family….can we talk about the hat on little Leo and that beautiful stare? Mmmmmmm!

We were so happy when we learned that MaryHelen’s sister, Johanna, and her three sweet monkeys, Katherine, Thomas & Matthew, would be joining us. Family….it is everything! And we just adore these sweet, fun, playful, loving families! Yaaay for family!

Johanna and her sweet little man….love the sun flare coming through the wooden train Thomas was sitting in. And, that expression…delightful.

Matthew is the class clown of the family and we just LOVE his rambunctious, loving nature. Big kisses Matty….

Sweet, momma-lovin’ Katherine is growing into such a lovely young woman-to-be. Hey beautiful.

The whole gang…and a little warming up snuggle with Gammy.

Back at Helen’s, little Leo refueled with some Mmmmm good yogurt. Is there anything cuter than a little boo feeding him/herself? I think not!

Big thanks to you Helen for once again sharing your beautiful family with us! We loved getting to meet Leo and seeing his sweet and adoring cousins again. MH, Kurt & Johanna…as always, it was great reconnecting. Thank you all for braving the cold and coming out to play with us! We hope your Thanksgiving was full of love & joyful celebration and that these photos serve as happy reminders of your time together! Until next time, sending big love & hugs to you all (including those who couldn’t make it ~ Jim, Andrew, Lisa & Emmett), C&A xoxo
