Harvest & Justin’s Wequassett Fall Wedding ~ Cape Cod Photographers

W0322_0736

I love when the seasons change. There is joy to be found in those moment of in-between…where letting go and moving on meet.

Even though they come year after year with steadfast predictability, each season brings something new…some exciting thing to look forward to. We trade our swimsuits and flip-flops for flannel and boots. Later, we put away our shovels as daffodils make their way through the thawing soil. Each season is met with great anticipation, though sometimes mingled with quiet surrender.

Weddings are a bit like that, I think. We pledge to make room for another, one who will walk beside us on the journey of life. There is a sense of unknowing…what will this new season of life bring? And, at times, it can be scary…particularly for those of us who didn’t have a good marriage modeled for us by our parents.

And, yet, we go forth blissfully into the unknown, sure in our feelings of love and trust. For this person we have chosen to walk alongside is making a commitment to be there, to show up for the good and the bad – today, tomorrow and always. That’s pretty huge!

Just as each season is unique….so too is each wedding. And, it is truly a privilege to get to bear witness to this merging of lives and hearts.

Just as summer was giving way to fall, friends & family gathered as Harvest and Justin stood on a grassy knoll overlooking Pleasant Bay at the picturesque Wequassett Resort, ready to merge their lives in marriage.

A year earlier, we had received a very sweet e-mail from Harvest inquiring about our availability. She & Justin live in Kansas City, Missouri, so a meeting…at least initially…wasn’t possible. We chatted a few times via e-mail, and then over the phone, and I was instantly smitten. Harvest is warm, open, kind, and super thoughtful. So thoughtful that she & Justin choose to have their wedding in New England mainly to accommodate their aging grandparents. Of course, it didn’t hurt that Cape Cod and Wequassett are gorgeous places, but it was really about making it easy for their grandparents to be there. LOVE THAT!

Harvest was really upfront about us being a bit more expensive than they could really afford, but when they decided to hire us she told us, ” I have always said there are two things I want for my wedding (besides Justin, of course!) a kick-ass dress and an amazing photographer….Check 1 of 2 off the list.”

I mean…how do you not fall in love with her?! Needless to say, we were super excited to be a part of their wedding and when we finally got to meet them…and their dog, Kane, this spring it was official….we were going to make sure this wedding was one we were going to document with lots of heart!

So, without further ado….here’s a little look at the wonderful wedding of two pretty amazing people.

Harvest is a very colorful person…she is fun and funny, kind and quirky. She is happy in the way that color is and it’s hard not to feel similarly so when you’re around her. Her beautiful flowers echoed all of that perfectly. And, how about those shoes?!

01 wedding ring & flowers

Even in her getting ready dress, Harvest was already glowing…thanks to help from dear friends, who traveled to be part of their day, and even helped do Harvest’s hair. Girlfriends are the bomb diggity!

02 bride gets ready

Harvest & Justin didn’t opt for a bridal party. Instead, Harvest had her sister as her MOH and Justin had his dad as his BM. Justin & Jon are pretty chilled out guys, as is Justin’s very sweet dog and sidekick, Kane, who is never far from his side. It made for a very relaxing time getting ready.

Big thanks to Megan Sugg and the wonderful staff at Wequassett Resort for putting together a fabulous and most memorable day for these two wonderful people. Harvest & Justin…thank you sooooo much for welcoming us with such open arms and open hearts! We loved being a part of your wedding and hope that even though you two live half way across the country, that you keep us close and let us know where this next season of life takes you! With big love & hugs, Christine & Andy xo

Jessica & Mike’s Falmouth Beach Wedding

We first met Jessica & Mike last October, when we photographed them for their engagement session. We met them at Jessica’s Uncle Dave’s beach front home in Falmouth. They wanted to show us where their ceremony would take place and it’s a spot where they spend a lot of time and love being, so it made perfect sense.

Like so many of our couples, Jessica & Mike said they were super nervous about being photographed, but as is so often the case, they handled it like champs and we all had a lot of fun!  Ironically, the weather for their engagement session was much like that of their wedding…overcast, misty and with the occasional spitting rain. Also, like their engagement session, the weather did nothing to dampen spirits or hinder the fun!! Nope…not even a little!!

We had a great time documenting all of the love & celebration for them. And, it was so nice to see some familiar, smiling faces. Also like many of our couples, Jessica & Mike found us through family & friends. Jessica’s Uncle Dave was at last summer’s Wequassett wedding of Katie & Richie’s. Dave, along with, Brooke, his rock star assistant, liked our photos so much, he decided to hire us to document his niece’s special day. Katie’s super sweet momma, Sue, also put in a good word for us….love you Sue!

As I’ve said many times before…what Andy & I love most about this work is the people and the lasting connections we’re fortunate enough to make. It’s all about the love for us! Anyway, I know you come here for the photos, so without further ado…here’s a look at some of our favorite moments from Jessica & Mike’s fabulous Falmouth wedding!

Lovely Jessica getting dressed and ready with a little help from her sweet momma, Susan.

Both Jessica & Mike got ready at Jessica’s super sweet Uncle David’s house, which is across the street from the beach where the happy couple exchanged vows. Thankfully, the rain held off for the ceremony.

All smiles from the guys as we headed down to the beach for some photos…

W0320_0286

These guys were such troopers! No sooner did we get on the beach than the rain began spitting on us. That didn’t keep everyone from having some fun! You guys rock!!

W0320_0645

Just loved the invitations by Tag Design that Jessica & Mike picked out. Champagne, diamonds. and smiles…it’s time for a party!

07 Flying Bridge wedding

Jessica & Mike’s first dance song is one of our faves…Better Together by Jack Johnson. They highlighted that and their feelings about one another on their wedding cake. Just too sweet!!

08 Flying Bridge wedding

Jessica & Mike had a little surprise for their family & friends. As HUUUUUGE Patriots fans, Mike decided to don the shirt of his favorite quarterback as they were being introduced for their first dance. It was under his jacket and they didn’t want anyone to see before being introduced. Just love how they’re looking at each other as they’re waiting for DJ Fredo of Nelson Cruz Entertainment to call their names. So cute!

W0320_0864

The unveiling….which was well received by friends, family and his very happy bride.  Go Pats!

W0320_1057

Mike also requested the Electric Slide for his Uncle Jim, who made no haste to get down on it!

W0320_1077

Despite the spitting rain, Jess & Mike were open to ending their amazing Flying Bridge reception with a dramatic shot of the marina from the restaurant’s back steps. And, it’s a wrap!

W0320_1097

Big thanks to Brie & Tyler at the Flying Bridge for making the night go off without a hitch. Special thanks to Sue Vatalaro, Brooke Berman and Dave Howe for making it so that we could be a part of this incredible day and night! But, most especially….thank you Jessica & Mike, your warm and welcoming families & friends! Thank you for entrusting us with documenting such a special and love-filled time in your lives! We loved every minute of your incredible wedding and hope these and the other photos soon to follow serve as happy reminders for many, many years to come!

Big love & hugs, Christine & Andy

Liz & Travis’s Wequassett Wedding ~ Harwich Photographers

W0308_0220

Liz & Travis’s Wequassett wedding last month was perfectly dreamy in every way. The weather was one of those quintessential warm fall days, sunny, dry…perfect. Family & friends gathered, overlooking picturesque Pleasant Bay, to watch as these two best friends pledged their hearts and lives to one another, having written their own vows and guided into marriage by their dear friend, Gary….perfect! There were heart-felt speeches, that were equal parts humor and sentiment and had everyone smiling from ear to ear. There was delicious food, good music, dancing and oodles of love and happy celebration.

All in all, theirs was a perfect wedding and the perfect way with which to end our 2016 season.

We had been looking forward to the day since meeting them last fall. Sitting in our studio, hearing about how they met, their hopes for their special day, and how much they enjoyed our work, we instantly fell for them! And, quickly fell for Liz’s super sweet mom, Jane, and dad, Stephen, who welcomed us warmly into their home when we got together in June for Liz & Travis’s engagement (click HERE for a peek)…even asking us to stay for dinner. Just like Liz & Travis, they are super warm, welcoming, kind, generous, lovely people. And that sentiment was perfectly reflected throughout the wedding.

Here’s a look at some of our favorite moments from their incredible day, beginning with just a few picture perfect details, including Liz & Travis’s wedding rings, sitting atop a perfectly plum Mrs. Box (love these little ring boxes!), Liz’s bling-a-licious Jimmy Choo shoes, stunning bouquet by Lilac Florals. (You outdid yourself with this one, Karen!), invitations by JPapers and Liz’s crazy beautiful Reem Acra wedding dress. The purple and gray wedding colors paired with the blue suits and gray ties were stunning!

01 bride details

Liz gets help getting in her dress from her super sweet sister, Laura, and mom, Jane (behind Liz), while her adoring cousin, Rachael lends moral support. Slipping into her sexy Jimmy Choos, I just love this candid portrait of Liz! She’s so serene, so beautiful and so sexy all at once!

02 bride getting dressed

The gorgeous rushing and beaded shoulders on Liz’s dress fit her perfectly!!!

W0308_0058

With a little spritz of her chosen wedding day scent and a smile and she’s ready to go see Travis for their first look. Isn’t she lovely?! Liz got her flawless look thanks to good genes and the talented team of Artworx Hair Design and Kristin McKenzie Make Up.

03 beautiful bride

Meanwhile, in another room at the resort, Travis gets ready with his besties. Just loved their stylish blue suits and sharp ties, which Travis gave to his groomsmen as gifts. Travis started Tora Clothing, a high end menswear company, so we just knew the guys would be looking good….they didn’t disappoint!

W0308_0868This one melts my heart….having no kids of our own, I see a lot of mother/son dances and can’t help but feel a little sad that I’ll never have that. But, seeing sweet Travis dance not only with his lovely momma, but also with his favorite Aunt Judy gave me hope that I could still have this. (Callie & Mikey….are you listening? And, Sadie & Stella, I am totally open to a bride/Auntie dance too, just for the record!!)
W0308_0974

Like the whole world melts away and all there is is me and you….let the fairytale begin!

W0308_1020bw

Liz & Travis, thank you both so very much for inviting us into your lives and sharing such a special day with us. Entrusting us to document all of the beautiful love & joyful celebration was both an honor and privilege that we absolutely relished! You guys are wonderful. Your families and friend equally so and we could not have ended our wedding season on a sweeter not! So thank you!!! We hope you enjoy these photos half as much as we enjoyed being there to capture them for you! Can’t wait to share the rest with you! Until then, sending big love & hugs, Christine & Andy xoxo
