A couple of weeks ago, on one of those rare June days when the sun actually poked its head out for a bit, Canadian cuties, Victoria & Mike, said “I do!” Surrounded by friends and family from near and far, Victoria & Mike’s  ceremony & reception were held at the ever-elegant Wequassett Inn in Chatham. Wequassett itself had received quite a facelift over the winter, making an already stunning property even more picturesque!

Victoria & Mike put a lot of thought into all of the details for their special day, giving us a boatload of fabulous photo opportunities, but none so enjoyable as being able to photograph these two quietly unassuming, yet perfectly matched sweethearts alone together. If ever two people were made for one another, it is Victoria & Mike.

Here are a few of our favorite moments and details from their incredible day:

Victoria’s CRAZY beautiful dress by Monique Lhuillier. I looooove this dress!!!

Victoria’s & Mike’s mothers (Victoria’s step-mom included) added their own flavor of love to the day by baking some family favorite cookies for the guests’ gift baskets. So sweet!!!

The stationary used for Victoria & Mike’s invitations, announcements, menus etc. were adorable with a capital A! Created by Dauphine Press & Laura Hooper Calligraphy, they were both playful and elegant, which completely represented the happy couple and their approach to their wedding!

Victoria takes a peek at the back of her dress. We just love the way Victoria completely wears her emotions on her face!

Mike seemed a bit more nervous at the start of the day. He couldn’t stop pacing. Here he seems to enjoy a quiet moment of reflection.

A lot of our couples are opting to forgo tradition and see each other before the ceremony, which we LOVE LOVE LOVE! Not only does it make their day last longer and allows them to be a part of their cocktail hour, but generally we find if planned properly, there’s more time for photos and it’s a lot more relaxed for everyone. Here Mike & Victoria see each other for the first time….love the expressions!!

Victoria was so eager to show Mike her finished look…..what do you think honey?!!! Gorgeous!

The happy couple…

A smooch…

Mike looks a lot more relaxed now that he’s seen his bride-to-be. True love really does have a calming effect! Ahhhhh…..

Victoria really was stunning in her gown….I love the curves in this next shot….whoooo hooo!

Victoria & Mike’s flower girl Isabel was a photographer’s dream! Love this sequence as she joins Victoria for a photo.

Victoria and her sisters relax before the ceremony starts….I love the light in this shot and the lines of all of their bodies…so perfectly girlie!

Mike & Victoria beam with bride as Mike’s niece, Brianna, shares a reading. I love the minister’s happy expression too!

This is always a highlight of the day for us…when the new Mr. & Mrs. make their way down the aisle together. The joy on their faces is always contagious and the moment itself creates a perfect photo every time!

Victoria had Ormonde Productions drape sheer fabric across the back wall of the ballroom, and used lighting to create a dramatic and elegant effect. LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS!!!! Well placed lighting can really change the look and feel of a space, add in some sheer fabric and the drama-meter goes off the charts!

Huge thanks to the Wequassett’s Kalson Pang for once again making sure things ran perfectly, to the uber-creative Karen at Lilac Florals for providing more gorgeous flowers for us to photograph, and to the incredibly talented members of Night Shift, who made sure folks were groovin’ for some great dance floor shots! You all rock and make our jobs easy!

But, our biggest thanks, goes to Victoria & Mike, who right from the beginning put their trust in us. You two are wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed being a part of such a special time in your lives. Your wedding day was picture perfect and the love you share is a sweet reminder of how lucky we are when we find our soul mate! Thanks you two! Big love & hugs, Christine & Andy xo

Krista Photography : Oh, that dress is amazing!!

Jill & John’s wedding at the ocean-side Popponesset Inn in Mashpee, was one of those joyous celebrations of love that leave both Andy & me feeling like we want to get married again, and again!

Everyone at the wedding was just so happy to be there, fully ready to cheer on Jill & John as they pledged their love and their lives to one another. And, as for Jill & John…well, let’s just say it’s easy to see why everyone was so darned happy. These two really adore each other and are absolutely committed to their relationship. They put cotton candy to shame when it comes to the sweet meter.

It started out an overcast day, but we always tell our couples overcast is actually really good for photos. I’m pretty sure our couples think we’re just snowing them when we say this….like with that good old expression about it being good luck when it rains on your wedding day. Maybe that’s true, I’m not really sure. But, an overcast day really does provide some great even light for outdoor photography…especially on an open beach!

Here are a few of our favorites from Jill & John’s special day:

John’s sisters, Jacque & Madeline, make some last minute alterations as they prepare for the big day. I just love the lines their bodies make in this shot…it’s just so feminine! You rocked it girls!

Lovely Jill & her equally sassy sister, Ashley, struggle to pop open the champagne. This was actually quite funny. They struggled for a while before called in their Uncle Keith to save the day.

Jill gets help putting on her dress from sis, Ashley. I love Jill’s playful expression in this one!

John cracks up at his good friend & groomsman, Samir’s, lame attempt to tie a tie. Sorry Samir, but it is pretty pitiful!

John and his boys…Hey there McDreamy!!!

I absolutely love this next series. Jill & John’s seriously adorable flower girl, Megan, was so shy coming down the aisle. She hunched her shoulders as if to hide inside herself. It was PRICELESS!

Jill was absolutely beaming standing across the altar from John!!!

Welcome to the world Mr & Mrs….

“Can you believe it? We’re married!!!” How cute are the expressions on Jill & John’s face as they make their way down the aisle.

The girls decided they wanted to lift John up for a photo….it took a little more doing than they thought, which just made everyone crack up! Andy thought this was a fun perspective to highlight their efforts. I couldn’t agree more!

“The way you make..a me feeel!!!” I can’t help but think of that song when I look at this next photo!

Having a little moment…Jill & John style! If you’ve had your picture taken with us before, you’ll really appreciate this next one! LOVE IT!!!

See what I mean about overcast? Who needs blue skies when you get this kind of dramatic light! And how cool does the water look?

Jill didn’t tell us she was changing to a bird cage veil for the reception, but ooohhh do we love that she did….too cute for words!!! This shot was taken while the adorable best man, Casey, was giving his speech! Well done Casey! You rocked it out!!!

And just a few details from their fabulous day! We don’t usually help ourselves to cake at a wedding…feels a bit cheeky. But, we just couldn’t say no to the sweet temptation of Cupcake Charlie’s scrumptious creations. I’m pretty sure they made Hostess with the Mostess just for me!

We’d like to give a shout out to Judy Fligg at All About Flowers for putting together some lovely arrangements for us to photograph, and to DJ Danny Walsh for knowing how to get the crowd jumping…You rock Danny and always get us some great dancing pictures. We’d also like to thank the always professional, ever sweet, Jen Perry at Popponesset for being such a pleasure to work with! Thank you all very much!

And our biggest thanks go out to Jill & John and your wonderful families for welcoming us into your lives with such open arms and open hearts! We have truly loved getting to know all of you and feel really honored to have been there with you during such a special time!!! Love & hugs, Christine & Andy xo

Ga Ga Ga Gorgeous!
{ 19 May 09 }

Ivy is one of those people who really does light up a room with her smile. Even when life gets hard or things are stressful she’s our little Miss Sunshine! And, that smile of hers….well, it’s always there.

When we posted Ivy & Ben’s engagement photos on our blog last fall, we got more comments (on the blog and just in conversations) from people about Ivy & her smile. Like us, everyone reacted to the joy so easily visible on her gorgeous face.

When it came time to pick a photo for a rather prominent spot in our new studio, Andy & I both gravitated to a picture of Ivy & Ben. It’s just hard not to feel good watching them together. So, you can imagine how excited we were when it came time to see these lovebirds say, “I do!” two weeks ago.

It was exactly as we imagined it would be. Ben was ridiculously happy, yet contained. Ivy was glowing…truly. She was calm, yet the excitement was bursting through the surface. And her smile….you couldn’t help but smile yourself when it was aimed in your direction.

Ivy & Ben got married at the elegant Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster. Theirs was only the second wedding ever to be held in Ocean Edge’s new mansion ballroom and it looked beautiful. The day started off rainy and it appeared we might not be able to do photos outside. But, as if on cue, the skies opened and the sun shone through just as Rev. Faith Lavender announced that our happy couple may now kiss.

All in all, it was an incredible celebration of love and we were honored to have been a part of that. Here are a few of our favorite moments from Ivy & Ben’s special day! Enjoy!

Ivy sneaks a peek as Jackie from Wedding Tresses puts the finishing touches on her wedding do. Gorgeous!

Ivy gets a little help from her friend & MOH Susanna. I just love the lines of their bodies in the shot on the left…so beautifully feminine!

Taaa Daaah! The million dollar smile!

Ivy & her girls…

Ben gets a little pre-wedding support from his brothers! Seriously, do their parents make ‘em adorable or what?!!!

Ivy’s very sweet Uncle Kurt did the honors of walking Ivy down the aisle.

Immediately after the ceremony, Ivy & Ben exchanged hugs with their friends. I just love this shot of Ben watching Ivy…..can’t you feel the joy?

Walking back from the ceremony to take a few family photos on the front lawn….

Can two people possibly smile any bigger? I think not!

“Celebrate good times…come on!”

We just loved the scattered magnolia flowers littering the ground…so pretty!

Down to the beach for a few photos…

Ivy’s adorable Manolos….

ga ga ga gorgeous…..

That winning smile we all love so much!!!

Big big thanks to Ivy & Ben for inviting us to be a part of such an incredible time in their lives. You two are amazing people and an inspirational couple! Your love is so sweet and so special….just like both of you! Thank you for inviting us in with such open arms and open hearts! We adore you guys!!!

Big hugs & lots of love, Christine & Andy xoxo

Emily & Larry wanted their wedding to not only be a celebration of their love, but also a reflection of who they are as a couple and the things that are most important to them. But, more than that, they wanted to share their day with the people closest to them in a way that wasn’t as much about tradition or formalities as it was about having a REALLY good time!

Their ceremony was held at Holy Trinity Church in Harwich and their reception immediately followed at Clancy’s Fish n’ Chips in Dennis. They both spend a lot of time there and are good friends with the owners, so it only seemed fitting that this should be where they celebrate such a happy time in their lives.

It was obvious that a lot of time, energy and thought went into all of the little touches they put together to make their wedding day special and so it was!

One of the coolest things they did was to hold a raffle. They gave all of their guests raffle tickets and asked them to choose one of several possible prizes. The prizes involved activities that were among Emily & Larry’s favorite things…a summer Sox game, dinner and tickets to a show (featuring one of their favorite Country singers Pat Green) or the very creative Sunday Funday prize, which involved gift certificates to some of their favorite places to hang out on a Sunday evening on the Cape. And the best part of the prize was that the winners got to enjoy these activities with Larry & Emily. What a very cool and thoughtful idea. We loved it! (We actually considered slipping our names into the pot, but thought that might be a tad cheeky! Just a tad!)

It was an incredible day and everyone seemed to really have a blast. Here are a few of our favorite moments from the day:

In her gold Manolo Blahniks and stunning white silk gown, Emily looked like the perfect bride. It was at once elegant and still Capey.

Emily & her girls…I LOVE green for bridesmaids dresses. It’s been a popular color this year, but these dresses rank as some of my favorites of the year. I just love the neckline. So cute!

Larry & his boys…The guys wore very hip gray wool suits…loved them!

Larry is the biggest goofball ever…in the best kind of way…but check out how hot he is here! Hottie!!!

It’s one of those epic life moments…just before you walk down the aisle when every emotion rushes through you in a flash. Do I cry? Do I laugh? It all happens so fast, but the feelings linger and eventually become treasured memories of a moment in time. I live for those moments…

Lovely Holy Trinity. It’s definitely got a 70s vibe…and we like that!!

The symbolism of the wedding bands always seem to strike a chord with newly married couples. You’ve been planning your wedding for over a year. You likely know the person you’re marrying for many years and yet, it’s not until that metal band is snuggly on your finger that the realization hits you, “We did it. We’re married and we’re a team forever.” It is such a cool feeling!

One of the best parts of Holy Trinity is the tiny stone chapel out back. With it’s large wooden doors and colorful garden…it’s an awesome spot for photos.

The happy couple…

The question of whether to do a receiving line often comes up when planning a church wedding. We say, if you have the time (and plan on at least 40 minutes for 120 people) a receiving line can be a great opportunity for some nice candid portraits. People are generally catching up with old friends and sometimes you can catch some really genuine moments. Here are a couple of sweet shots from Emily & Larry’s receiving line.

Larry’s sister Liz. Is she adorable or what?

Friends of Emily & Larry share a little love when they think no one is looking….Gotcha Cuties!!!

Larry kicks back with his friends and enjoys a good cigar at the end of a fabulous day…

And here are a few of the fabulous little touches Emily & Larry put together for their friends and families:

Emily & Larry…thank you both so much for inviting us to share in special time in your lives. It is obvious that you two love each other very much and that you place great value on the time you spend with each other and with your friends and family doing the things you love. You two are wonderful and inspire us to take more time for each other. It’s easy to get caught up in our busy lives, but there is nothing more important than making the most of our time with the ones we love.

You guys rock and we can’t wait to see you both again! And if you ever need company on one of your Sunday Fundays….you know where to find us!

Love & hugs, Chris & Andy xo

Candice : Haha! Wow what a fun-filled wedding! Sounds lovely! Those images of the couple admiring their rings is fantastic! I love the pics of the receiving line, so precious those stolen moments. Awesome once again!

It’s a mouthful, but not a bad title, eh? I guess the skills gained during my 7 years as a newspaper reporter/editor come in handy from time to time.

If you haven’t guessed already, the wedding of the fabulous duo, Meaghan & Sean, had a golf theme…of sorts. Sean is the resident golf pro at the Boston Golf Club. He & Meg enjoy an occasional game of golf, and so what better spot for their wedding reception than at the lovely Scituate Country Club.

We were holding our collective breath leading up to the wedding as weather forecasts were calling for tropical storm conditions. We absolutely adore Meaghan & Sean and didn’t want to see their special day washed out. So, we kept our fingers crossed and planned to make the best of whatever Mother Nature threw our way. Somebody upstairs must have been looking out for them. As it turned out, the rain held off so Meaghan & Sean could get all of their photos outside, taking advantage of the beautiful views. And, overall, the wedding itself was a huge success. YEAAAAHHH!!!!

These two love birds were so much fun and were absolutely two of the happiest people we have ever seen at their own wedding. They danced, celebrated, and smiled ear-to-ear late into the night with friends and family seeming to have the time of their lives. We couldn’t have wished for anything more for these two incredibly warm, loving, genuine, sweetie pies. Okay, a little sun would have been nice. But, we’re not complaining.

Here are a few of our favorite moments from the day:

The bling and the invite…

Meg takes a moment to take it all in before heading to the ceremony to say, “I do.” Doesn’t she look beautiful? Love it!

Meg heads to the chapel in style in an old Ford. A classic car and a classic beauty!!

I love this photo of Sean before the ceremony. I think he looks very handsome and serene. He’s a lot funnier than this photo lets on to, but I still love it!

It wouldn’t be a photo of Sean and his buddies if golf clubs weren’t involved.

Meg chats with the driver as she waits to be called into the church for the start of the ceremony. I just love these stolen moments. She looks so happy and ready to begin.

Sean and his groomsmen share a giggle right before the start of the ceremony. It’s such an exciting time those moments before you say, “I do.”

St. Mary’s in Scituate provided a stunning setting for the ceremony with it’s ornate ceiling and stately columns.

Meg & Sean share a private moment during the service. Like little kids joking during mass. Love it!

Sealed with a kiss… I love that the little altar boy is clapping. Seriously, how cute is that? And check out his sister’s face to the left…wonder what she’s thinking?

Off to the Scituate Country Club for a few photos of the happy couple. Check out those storm clouds! Yikes! It did pour later that evening, but Mother Nature was kind enough to hold off long enough to get some shots outside.

Meg & her girls apparently found it very funny when we asked them to give us their best catwalk walk. Sometimes it’s not what we’re asking our subjects to do that gets us the photo we want, so much as their reaction to our question. This is a perfect example of that.

Meg & Sean’s faces during their first dance pretty much tell the story of their wedding day! These two could not stop smiling, dancing and laughing all night long!

Just a few details from their fabulous day! One of Meg’s friends made a CD for guests featuring the couple’s favorite songs. We got a copy and there’s some great music on there, including one of my favorite songs by Brett Dennen, a talented young artist with some very cool things to say. Check him out if you haven’t already. And, another cute detail Meg put together were these monogrammed bags she had made for her bridesmaids. So sweet! I’m dating myself here, but with those bamboo handles they remind me a little of the classic Bermuda bags we girls couldn’t live without back in 1980. I think I was in about 6th grade when they first came on the scene with the reversible cotton covers and the hinged wooden handles. I had one with a purple corduroy cover. I can’t remember what was on the other side, but I loved it!!!

Big BIG thanks to Meaghan & Sean (and to both of your families) for being such incredibly warm, genuine, lovely people!!! You guys have made us feel so very welcome in your lives since day one and we feel really fortunate not only to have been there with you on such a special day, but now, after almost a year of knowing you both…to be able to call you our friends! The love you share is everything love should be and we hope it continues to grow and blossom and bring you much MUCH happiness! We love you guys!!! xoxo C&A
